Privacy policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026 (rev. 2)
Fluffmeter is a Chrome extension by Olympus Labs that evaluates YouTube videos. This policy explains exactly what it handles. The short version: it works only on YouTube, it needs no account, and it only sends a video's content to our server when you ask it to score that video.
What we process, and why
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The video's ID, title, channel name, description and transcript | Only when you score a video (watch page, thumbnail, or Tab Triage) | To produce the evaluation. The transcript is fetched by your browser from YouTube and sent to our server, which sends it to our AI provider. |
| A random install ID | With each scoring and feedback request | To apply the free daily limit and to keep one feedback record per video. It is generated by the extension and is not linked to your name, email or Google account. |
| Your feedback (yes / not quite, optional reasons and note) | Only when you tap it | To improve the evaluations. Stored with the video ID, the install ID and the verdict you rated. |
What stays on your device
Scores you've seen, a small list of verdicts (for the colored dots), your feedback taps and the install ID are kept in Chrome's extension storage on your computer. Hovering a thumbnail or opening a video only checks this local storage: nothing is sent until you ask for a score. Tab Triage reads the titles and addresses of your open YouTube tabs locally to list them; only the IDs of videos you choose to score leave your device.
What we never do
- We don't read pages outside YouTube or your browsing history.
- We don't use ads, analytics trackers or fingerprinting.
- We don't sell, rent or share your data for advertising or credit purposes.
- We don't require or store a name, email, Google account or password.
Shared results
Evaluations are cached per video and can be shown to anyone who scores the same video, so popular videos load instantly. A cached evaluation contains only information about the video, never about who requested it.
Service providers
- Cloudflare hosts our server and database. Like any web server, it receives your IP address with each request; we use it only for abuse protection (rate limiting) and short-lived operational logs, never to identify you.
- OpenAI generates evaluations from the video information we send. Under OpenAI's API terms, this data is not used to train their models.
- Supadata is used only when your browser can't fetch a transcript (for example, if YouTube is temporarily limiting your connection). Our server then sends the video ID to Supadata to get the transcript.
Retention
Cached evaluations are kept so they can be reused. Daily usage counts are kept by date for rate limiting. Feedback is kept to improve the product. To have feedback associated with your install deleted, email us and we'll explain how to find your install ID.
Chrome Web Store user data policy
Fluffmeter's use of information received through Chrome extension APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children
Fluffmeter is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
